Genus Loci Studio… Headline designer at 2008 Home Design and Remodeling Show (June 11, 2008) –
Genus Loci Studio was recently featured as a showcase designer at the 2008 Home Design and Remodeling Show in Fort Lauderdale held on June 6, 7 & 8. As one of two designers selected for the showcase, the company is the first landscape architecture and design firm to headline the event in its 30-year history.
Genus Loci Studio designed a 240 Sq. Ft. outdoor living space complete with flagstone flooring paired with architectural foam columns and fireplace. The space was furnished with several water resistant pieces including outdoor patio furniture made out of vinyl woven over an aluminum frame and a one-of-a-kind weather and UV Ray resistant mahogany garden gate designed by Principal and Creative Director, C. Chad Elkins.
Principals Elkins and Robinson were on hand to answer questions and offer tips for transforming the outdoor living space into a personal retreat while maintaining an environmentally friendly approach. Each outdoor design is created utilizing the water and environmental conservation principals of Xeric Landscape Design and the Florida Yards and Neighbors Program to create sustainable landscape.
Showroom pieces included fine art images known as Giclée from Photographer Vincent Valle. Made for outdoor use, the Giclée printing has all the tonalities and hues of the original painting and is durable against rain, sun or harsh weather. Other design elements included lush “Green” screens and chocolate colored pergolas that formed a shaded entry portal.
